the choke archives: December 2002
the best album david bowie did (IMHO) is 'scary monsters' so go pick it up today. they remastered it recently, and you'll know what i'm listening too these days. yeah.
um i've been at my uncles farm. which reminds me of camp. the smells. not wearing any shoes. but camp was loud and there was always a million things to do. and all i've been doing is reading. i finished the fountainhead by ayn rand. it's a good book, she has some good ideas. some of her ideas are....too much, i think. she's reacting to christianity, religon in general. its so easy to look at religon and be like, ok, if this is the best god can do to represent himself, he must be an idiot! i mean, look at this, in the name of god we have crazy people killing each other in the middle east, at the border between india and pakistan, not to mention, not even to mention the history of christian missionaries who kill everyone in sight if they don't convert! 'we've got to civilize these savages' so yeah its easy to look at all of that and say, no thanks, not me i don't believe it, i don't buy it, if that's what god represents, if these people speak for god i'll just take my chances.....
yeah. but....the problem is that the original ideas, the ideals and the teachings have been grossly misconstrued and twisted to support the selfish egos of a few people, 'in the name of god' i mean people used to use passages from the bible to support the idea of slavery, segregation, etc. the best thing to do is to go to the texts themselves and read them and decide for yourself, instead of listening to these incompetent morons blather on about jeeeeesus and maaaaary and jooooooeeeeeseph and the glooooooorrrrry of GGGGGGGooooddd. these people, the so called 'ministers' and 'bishops' and the pope and all that, they are not fit to sell water to people in a desert.
so the farm, the farm the farm. it's really peacefull. all i've been doing there is reading, playing the guitar, and reading and reading and eating and sleeping and chanting a little and looking at the sunrise and the sunset and the stars, the stars the stars. you wouldn't believe the stars here they're bright like candles they're crazy bright. the only noise is the 'music' i make with the guitar, and sounds of nature. it's rockin. i like it. so i'm gonna visit some temples, but if i can stay here i'm going to for a hot minute. it's good stuff.
so i finished the fountainhead, it was good, good reading. now i'm reading some krsna books, some different stuff, the Ramayana, some meditation books, some buddhist stuff. yup. good stuff. so i guess it's getting prettty heavy in the usa i'm sorry to hear that i would escape to canada if i was there, maybe not now, but in the next year or so the way it feels to me from over here is that stuff is gettting prettttttty heavy...... i couldn't read the drudge report cause it was too heavy. i just glanced at it. cloned humans, north korea, 'the war on oil, i mean terrorism' etc.
ok yeah hows' everyone doin? let me know. i'll check in some time. later lovlies cHOKE
here is my new blog. i guess its now a weblog.....whatever.
real quick, i am in Udupi, which is sort of near Mangalore, called 'mangloo' ok i'm going to a temple to worship for a while, a month or so. i'll let you know how that is. i'm with some new folks i met thru some people i know. nic is awesome. didnt' you know? here probobly you didn't read my last post cause it was hard to find so here it is....
lots of people, they go to the mall or wherever to buy christmas gifts, and it's great, and yeah, who hoo, and all of that.
but i would like to thank my friend nic, who runs okcancel.org. most of the people who are reading this know nic personally, and a few of us have known him for 7 years now. nic has given me a christmas present, mainly, he is redesigning the cHOKE portion of okcancel.org. why? well, i asked for a few changes, something i thought would be cool, like a bulletin board that people could post to and ask specific questions to me, without the hassle of email. plus, everyone could read the comments, and comment on the comments. and then comment on the comment that the comments don't really make any new comments about the original comments. so we could all be yakking it up. so nic is doing that, and he's also doing a little redesign, as cHOKE has looked like this since the album "the bed is in the ocean" by Karate came out, which was 99? 98? in terms of websites, a whole millenia ago.
so nic is worshiping at the alter of selfless giving, he is a devotee of the highest ideals that man can aspire too, which is being of service to his fellow man. so everyone should take note of the selfless act, to please my desire for a little space on the web, he is doing on the only bit of free time he has inbetween semesters at school. if i was him, i'd be at some show drinking some good beer.
those of you who don't know nic, here's a little about him: he is kind, compassionate, passionate, giving, selfless, loyal, independent, brave, loving, creative, beautifull.......
in short, he embodies the ideals that we should all strive for.
enjoy the holidays
