To the People of Oaxaca, Mexico, and the World:

The situation in the state of Oaxaca continues to be delicate, and now, in the indigenous Zapotec community of San Isidro Aloapam, in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, a dangerous agrarian conflict between the community and the municipal capital is returning. Though the conflict is decades old, on June 18, upon finding out that Sam Miguel Aloapam authorities had entered San Isidro’s forest under the pretext of treating an insect plague, San Isidro residents continued their difficult resistance to San Miguel’s aggressions, and they went up to forest to initiate a dialogue so that the forest would not be cleared. With this, those from San Miguel responded violently, insulting, striking, detaining six and shooting at men and women, all of which led San Isidro residents to flee, running. In the midst of the pursuit, two people from San Miguel were shot, by their own people.

After these events a series of defamations of San Isidro have circulated in the media, blaming them for killing people from San Miguel, It is known that the only persons who were carrying guns were those from San Miguel, and it is known as well that San Miguel Aloapam is being advised by groups aligned with the PRI party, who are helping San Miguel employ the same practices that have been employed in regard to the social movement that is alive in the state of Oaxaca. In a simlar way, messages are circulating that the compañera Dolores Villalobos Huamatzi is the intellectual author of these events and that the organization the Popular Indigenous Council of Oaxaca - Ricardo Flores Magon (CIPO-RFM) is an armed organization that is advising San Isidro about these supposed practices.

We deny these accusations and we say that the only struggle of compañera Dolores Villalobos Huamatzi, and CIPO-RFM, is in defense of natural resources and Mother Earth. We deny that CIPO-RFM is an organization with armed groups, since CIPO-RFM is an organization that fights for the self-determination of indigenous people and is an adherent to the Other Campaign, whose struggle is peaceful and civil.

We blame municipal, state, and federal governments for all that could happen to Dolores Villalobos Huamatzi, to the organization CIPO-RFM, and to the people who live in the community of San Isidro Aloapam.

We call those organizations, collectives, and individuals who resist and fight to stand in solidarity and sign this document of support for those of San Isidro Aloapam and CIPO-RFM, and that they come out to the urgent action that will happen on the 23rd of June, at 2:00 pm in the zocalo, or central plaza, in the city of Oaxaca, where we propose the initiation of a hunger strike. Also, stand with us with your participation in a caravan of observation and support that will leave from the city of Oaxaca to San Isidro Aloapam on June 25. The objectives of the of the caravan are to support the community in the face of the accusations that have been fabricated, the delivery of food and supplies, and human rights observation.

We ask that all assist, and to those that don’t assist, that they collect medicine and first-aid supplies, as the situation in the community impedes them from leaving and entering the village as people from San Miguel are guarding the roads into San Isidro. It’s for them that we ask that you sign this document and that you assist in the activities mentioned above.
